Match Report - 28 Apr 2013, Clapham Rovers Clapham Rovers beat Chiswick FC
Rovers 5 – 1 Chiswick
It was just your typical 9 point Sunday. With us being awarded 3 points for London Rhinos not being able to fulfil our scheduled fixture and a double header against Chiswick being played instead, this was a big day.
The first hour game was one of the most sedentary games of football I’ve ever played. Chiswick put no pressure on the ball and allowed us to stamp our authority on the game.
I’m not sure I ever went past a jog which is good because after my weight gain revelation (1.5 stone in a year, I blame the Transit Van and Greggs diet) as we strolled through Chsiwick at will.
I’ll be honest, there were that many chances and goals I’ve struggled to remember them all.
The highlight of the game for me was in the second half where a ball into Godders was laid off to Nick on the edge of the box who then then drilled it into the bottom corner of the net from the edge of the area.
We did however finish the game with a sloppy edge when a couple of Chiswick attacks were not defended properly and they scored a goal from a corner at the back post with non-existent marking.
