Rovers 13 – 2 South West Athletic
In the dark recesses of my mind, nestled away amongst seeing Notts being relegated on the last day of the season away at Gillingham, I can still vividly see a number of haunting score lines hovering in the gloom. 11-0. 20-0 (yes, 20!) 8-1. 5-1. I’ve seen Rovers be on the end of them all.
For that reason, and with nothing against South West Athletic who were a nice set of lads, I really enjoyed seeing us win 13-2.
We won playing classy football and behaving classy in victory.
3 Rovers bagged hat tricks (a Rovers first) and Pete scored 2 on his first start. James scored a fine cross come shot from distance and Tim exhibiting the bukkkake celebration towards his Missus after added to his season’s tally.
Over and above the feast of goals, 2 things will remain etched in my memory.
The first being a South West Athletic player trotting around the field making the sound of a pantomime donkey after the soles of his boots became detached from the leather upper. The second being Abu complaining to the referee about a late coming SWA player who after turning up 20 minutes after kick off went full Jordan Pickford and decided to fly around the pitch wildly...”What’s he doing him? Mad Geezer. Wild man.”
Absolutely glorious Sunday League.
MOM went to Abu for a first half hat trick including a belter which nearly split the net in half, right down the middle.
Sunday 25th October Fixture
This week we’re back in league action vs Albion. Like Parklife, it’s always a tough game against these and our head to head record is quite similar. We therefore need to be at our best to win. So let’s win!
