Rovers 5 – 1 South London Panthers
It was a slow start but once we got into our groove, we tamed the Panthers.
At half time it was 2-1.
Fordy had given us the lead after leaping like a salmon and planting a header into the net from a Shaf cross.
We were then pegged back from a ropey corner into the box where a Panther was left to pounce with a free header at the back post.
Shaf however restored the lead at half time as a shot from Shaun was well saved by the keeper and he could only parry it out towards Shaf who was lurking in the 6 yard box.
At half time we talked about putting the hammer down and boy did we do that.
Fordy leaped like an even bigger salmon to bullet a header in at the near post from another fine Shaf corner.
Bunman timed a fabulous run to the edge of the box to tuck home under the keeper. One his idol, Trent Alexander Arnold would be proud of.
Fordy then deservedly sealed his hattrick from the penalty spot after earlier having a goal disallowed for only being 6 yards over the line.
All in all, a fine day’s football and we march on the next round....The Way to Willesden Continues....
MOM. In a clean sweep of nominations, Fordy deservedly took MOM for one of the finest individual Clapham Rovers performances I've ever seen. It was Beckham vs Greece territory.
Sunday 18th October Fixture
We are once again in cup action this week against South West Athletic.
I am currently searching for my coupon for 50% off electroshock therapy. I last had a session when we bombed out the cup embarrassingly to a really poor team and I wanted to exercise the demons. I got 50% off that session too.
In fact I have had many such sessions following horrendous cup exits.
Let me put my coupon away for a change.
