Match Report - 25 Feb 2018, Clapham Rovers A Clapham Rovers beat West London Select

Rovers!
Rovers 1 – 4 West London Select
We sadly waved goodbye to the title on Sunday with a spirited and determined performance against the league leaders in a game decided by moments of quality which put the ball into the net. There’s still 2nd to play for and a well overdue cup upset we’ve denied by the weather.
We took the lead with a G penalty after Smud was brought down for the second penalty in 2 matches. We took this lead into half time by matching West London Select, toe to toe in physically and in giving them something to think about at the back.
Despite our chat at half time of maintaining the lead, West London Select brought themselves level on 50 mins with a shot out of the blue from the edge of the box which looped over Pybus into the far corner of the net and gave him no chance.
They then repeated the trick shortly after with a very similar effort to go 2-1 in front.
We could not force many clear cut chances to reply whilst WLS came into the match even more and looked much more threatening.
WLS were then gifted a third with a horror show from yours truly when I received the ball in the left back position and in a rush, hurriedly played a hospital pass back to Pybus for their striker to nip in and score. I can’t remember the 4th as I was still kicking a bush after substituting myself.
MOM. Tim Louis put in a massive shift up front and never gave WLS a moments peace.
Sunday 4th March Fixture
This Sunday sees us HOPEFULLY (weather permitting for the 4th time) come up against Battersea Park Rangers in the Southern Sunday League FA Cup....the Marcus Lipton Cup. They are top of the Premier League so that’s only one thing that can happen.....a famous giant killing from the ROVERS!
