Rovers!
They say you learn more from defeat than you do from victory and from Sunday we certainly learned that when it’s blowing a gale, hammering it down with rain and with a ref who’s consistently inconsistent, you sometimes come a cropper. Real Northern are a bogey side for us and they will be from someone else. They will take points off anyone in this league. We’ve had a spectacular start to the season and we should feel proud of that. Now let’s start another winning run against LSG and not play like a Chuckle Brothers invitational side.
Rovers 2 – 3 Real Northern A
Defeat is always painful so please forgive me for the short match report.
1-0 Rovers
From a Rovers throw in the ball is given to Moley. He steadies himself and looks to cross it into the box from the touchline and parallel with the corner of the box. His cross looks a good one and is into the right area. The ball is taken by the wind and it swirls over the keeper and into the far corner of the net. I love it when those training ground manoeuvres come off.
2-0 Rovers
A Milby corner from the left touchline, about 15 yards over the halfway line, is swung into the box and a crowd of players. It either goes straight in or SMC gets the faintest of touches to guide it into the far corner of the net. I do remember a discussion about who scored but as Sunday was rather Snazzy, I can’t remember what the outcome was.
2-1 Real Northern
It’s the second half and Real Northern are now playing with the wind. Their left footer swings in a decent free kick from the right hand side. Pybus makes his 3467th great save of the day to tip it onto the post. Sadly the rebound bounces straight onto a Real Northern foot and the balls cannons in.
2 – 2 Real Northern
From a corner we leave their Ed Sheeran Honey Monster completely free. We realise too late and the corner is lobbed straight onto his bonce. He nods crashes it in.
2 – 3 Real Northern
The ref misses a blatant foul in their half as the Rovers push for a winner. The ball breaks and Real Northern are away. We clear a few loose balls but it pings out to one of their players who hammers in at the near post.
MOM. Pybus was absolutely unreal in the nets.
