Sunday saw a visit from BBC London so look out for a feature on us which should be broadcast on/around the FA Cup 3rd Round Fixtures on 3rd January 2015. I will keep you posted.
Rovers 11 – 1 Parthenope
Sunday’s performance was almost perfect. We still conceded a goal though so there’s always something to improve on.
Yes, Parthenope were poor but whereas last time we struggled to score more than 4, this time we steamrolled them and scored 11. It could’ve been 20. Irrespective, we still (I think!) scored our most ever goals in a match.
The distraction of the BBC cameras didn’t distract us one iota. We were completely focused and played patient, calm, unselfish football throughout the match. It was brilliant.
I won’t describe all the goals because I struggle to remember the details when the score is 1-0 let alone 11-1.
4 that stick in mind are
1-0 : The BBC cameras recording an unstoppable penalty from Smudger into the bottom left hand corner after he had been taken out in the box by the keeper.
4-0 ish: Nath dispossessing their right midfielder in the left back position and then playing an incisive 50 yard ball in behind the Parthenope defence for Smudger to steam onto, round the keeper and slot into the net.
6-0 ish: Rich dancing around in the box to retrieve the ball after his first effort was denied to ram the ball into the net.
9-0 ish: Godders scooping the ball into the net from 10 yards.
Shaun took his first MOM for his 5 assists and goal. To describe how good this performance was; Smudger scored 6 and didn’t get MOM.
