Rovers!
Rovers 4 – 0 Parthenope
4 games, 4 wins, 4 clean sheets, 14 goals scored, 0 conceded. At any level that’s pretty good going. #turnaround #keeptherungoing
Pats on the back all round for turning the season around. We’ve got a cup semi final coming up and we’re making strides in the league. We must keep it going on Sunday vs London Rhinos who second in the league only by goal difference.
Our victory against Parthenope was as routine as a severely obese man ordering a takeaway. From my vantage point between the posts Parthenope reminded me of the Sunday league equivalent of the Moldovan national team. Talented enough to be international footballers and kick a ball around but still likely to be made ordinary when coming up against Gareth Barry.
Not that we played like Gareth Barry at any means. Some of the stuff we played was sensational. Particularly our second goal which saw Bunny nick it on the halfway line, Godwin lay a first time ball off to JD out wide, who crossed it in first time and Godwin was there to flick it past the keeper. F@cking brilliant.
Our first goal had a suspicion of offside about it but the referee waved on the appeals and JD was on hand to turn it in. This had settled our nerves somewhat and we looked pretty comfortable from then on.
The first half ended on a sour note however, as Jimmy Joyce had to crawl off with a calf strain. The Beast of Birch had been welcomed back to the starting line up and Dan Endara came on in Jimmy’s place so the defence would not be weakened by his absence.
The second half played out in much the same way as the first. We laid siege to the Parthenope net whilst Parthenope replied with solitary forays in our half which came to nought.
Gaz put in a tasty challenge which tore a Parthenope player’s sock. I think the Parthenope player was more worried about getting his shorts and socks dirty to be honest though. Gaz then went off and was replaced by Dan who put in a great shift up top, showing off his pace and guile.
We survived a scare at 2-0 when their attacker put in a decent shot at the near post but it was met with a world class save by yours truly down low to my left.
Still celebrating my save, I missed our 3rd goal but I did see Godwin delightfully scoop the ball over the keeper for our 4th. Job done.
