Match Report - 26 Sep 2010, Clapham Rovers A Clapham Rovers beat Wessex Rangers
Last Sunday saw us secure our first win of the season and what a win it was! 5-1! A second half hattrick from Dan 'The Hitman' Harley and 2 storming goals from Tony Diaz sealed the win after we finished the half at 1-1. It was great to have the Hitman back for his first game of the season and his back post volley, in off the post, was the pick of the bunch. Indeed Tony Diaz would've sealed his hattrick had it not been for a lick of paint. After a mazy 40 yard run in which he beat 4 players, he entered the box and smashed it past the keeper only for it to cannon off the underside of the bar. Dave Fynn was also absolutely robbed of his first and well deserved goal of the season. He slid in at the back post, the ball crossed the line by at least a foot, the defender then scooped the ball back off the line with his hand but the ref didn't see any of it. Credit must also go to Charlie Benson for his great right wing cross which enabled Tony Diaz to steal in and put us 1-0 up in the first half. We created a sackful of other chances and the win was the big one we've been threatening all season.
